Cinebench R9.5

MAXON; CINEBENCH 9.5:

CINEBENCH is the free benchmarking tool for Windows and Mac OS based on the powerful 3D software CINEMA 4D. Consequently, the results of tests conducted using CINEBENCH 9.5 carry significant weight when analyzing a computer's performance in everyday use. Especially a system's CPU and the OpenGL capabilities of its graphics card are put through their paces (even multiprocessor systems with up to 16 dedicated CPUs or processor cores). During the testing procedure, all relevant data is ascertained with which the performance of different computers can subsequently be compared, regardless of operating system. Again, higher Frames/Second and lower rendering time in seconds equal better performance.

Cinebench 9.5 Benchmarking

Cinebench 9.5 was able to put a 100% load across all the cores, which makes this a great benchmark to look at multi-core platforms.

Cinebench 9.5 Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: Cinebench 9.5 was tested in both 64-bit and 32-bit, which resulted in some minor performance differences as seen above. The AMD Phenom X4 9950 was found to be faster than the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 in 64-bit, which was neat to see. The AMD Phenom 9350e was also fairly quick!

Futuremark 3DMark06

Futuremark 3DMark 2006

3DMark06

Futuremark's 3DMark06 has a built-in CPU test is a multi-threaded DirectX gaming metric that's useful for comparing relative performance between similarly equipped systems. This test consists of two different 3D scenes that are processed with a software renderer that is dependent on the host CPU's performance. Calculations that are normally reserved for your 3D accelerator are instead sent to the CPU for processing and rendering. The frame-rate generated in each test is used to determine the final score.

Futuremark CPU Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: The 3DMark 2006 CPU test showed that the Phenom X4 9950 did as expected in the CPU test, it beat out all the other AMD processors. The Phenom X4 9350e scored fairly well, but the 2.0GHz clock frequency limited the overall score found in the benchmark.

Firefox 3.0 wins memory battle - uses less system memory

Mozilla's Firefox 3.0 browser uses memory much more efficiently than its rivals, according to an independent tester who wrote a memory-monitoring utility to track usage by Firefox, Internet Explorer (IE), Flock, Opera and Safari.

The poorest marks went to Apple's Safari 3 .1 for Windows -- Allen tested only the Windows versions of each browser -- which consistently consumed more memory the longer it was used. "Safari on Windows shows extremely poor memory management," he said. Other browsers, including Microsoft's IE 8 Beta 1, Flock's Flock 2.0, and Opera Software's Opera 9.5, were in the middle, memory management-wise, he argued.

Speed up boot time on Windows Vista

Apparently, LifeHacker has found a way to speed up the boot time on Windows Vista. Here's how to do it:

NOTE: The following method will only work on computers with dual or quad-core processors.

1. Go to start menu and in the search area type 'msconfig'.

2. Navigate to the 'Boot' tab.

3. Now click 'Advanced options'.

4. The number of processors is set to '1' by default, change it to '2' if
you have a dual-core processor, or change it to '4' if you have a quad-core processor.

Nvidia to drop GTX 280/260 prices

According to Fudzilla, Nvidia is all set to cut the prices of 280/260. As of tomorrow Geforce GTX 280 should sell for $90 less, while the 260 will sell for $60 less, but this is Nvidia's price to partners so I am not quiet sure how much it will effect the e-tail price. The retail price should drop but probably a bit less than $90.

The Geforce GTX 260 will be $30 cheaper to partners and Nvidia will only offer limited price protection, which means that some partners / distributors and stores might end up with some overpriced cards at their warehouses.

So, as of tomorrow the high-end Geforce cards should be cheaper-but only a bit.
